
O'Neill, McDonough, Hubbard, Hawke to Speak at NABE Economic Policy Conference: 'U.S. Policy In An Uncertain Global Economy' 3/4/2002

Hawke, and Princeton University professor Alan Blinder are confirmed speakers at National Association for Business Economics' Washington Policy Conference, March 25-26, at the Marriott Metro Center Hotel, Washington, D.C. Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan will give informal remarks during a conference reception. Other confirmed speakers include David Dodge, governor, Bank of Canada; Otmar Issing, member of the executive board, European Central Bank; Commerce Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Kathleen Cooper; Charles Schultze, Brookings Institution senior fellow who chaired a recent National Academy of Sciences panel looking at price and cost of living indexes; Gary Schieneman, Financial Accounting Standards Board member; Paula Stern, of the Stern Group, Inc., and former chair of the International Trade Commission; William J. Hannigan, chairman and CEO of Sabre, a provider of technology and marketing services for the travel industry; Stephen Flynn, senior fellow, Council of Foreign Relations; and David Andrea, director of the forecasting group, Center for Automotive Research. The conference begins at 8 a.m., March 25, and concludes at 3:15 p.m., March 26. Sessions include an examination of the cross-country border movement of capital and labor, measuring attitudes during times of uncertainty, and the changing fiscal realities of state and local governments. Also, panels on measuring inflation, transatlantic differences in merger policies, trade policy liberalization and industries under stress. CEA Chair Hubbard will participate in a panel on private health insurance.
