
Child Welfare League Of America Announces National Conference Keynote Presentation By Nicholas Scoppetta 3/5/2002
From: Joyce Johnson of the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), 202-745-2128 News Advisory: The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) announced the participation of Nicholas Scoppetta, immediate past Commissioner for the New York City Administration for Children's Services, and New York City's 31st Fire Commissioner, in the CWLA National Conference, Children 2002: Making Children A National Priority. Scoppetta will be delivering the Keynote Presentation, entitled "Children in the National Crisis" on Wednesday morning, March 6 during the 8:30-10 a.m. Opening Session of the Conference. This will take place at Washington, D.C.'s Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Scoppetta will speak about his efforts to reform New York City's child welfare system and the challenges faced by children and families in the wake of the tragic events of September 11. Established in 1920, CWLA has nearly 1,200 public and voluntary member agencies that provide direct services to abused, neglected, abandoned, and otherwise vulnerable children and their families.
