
Joint Center Appoints New Vice President for Development 5/20/2003

Williams, president of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, today announced the appointment of Christine Naylor as vice president for development. A seasoned fundraiser with considerable experience in public relations, she will spearhead the Joint Center's efforts to broaden its financial base and nurture public/private partnerships. "Chris Naylor brings the experience, intellect, and aggressive spirit that we need to grow our fundraising capacity," said president Williams. "Joint Center board chairman Elliott Hall and I are pleased to welcome her to the center." Naylor was formerly director of public affairs for WAMU 88.5FM.. During her tenure, she designed a comprehensive community partnership program to extend the station's reach to local audiences and also co-directed its 40th Anniversary Gala. Previously, she was a managing partner of GBN Associates of Washington, D.C., which executes fundraising and public relations activities, grassroots campaigns, and special events for international associations, business and non-profit organizations. She was also a director and senior vice president at Burston-Marstellar with responsibilities for public education and constituency development campaigns for national and international clients. Naylor has extensive political experience and was the executive assistant to U.S. Senator Paul E. Tsongas of Massachusetts for many years. She also served as the national finance director for the senator's 1992 presidential campaign committee and was a campaign organizer for several other presidential campaigns. She has served on the board of directors of Bright Beginnings in Washington, D.C., the National Federation of Business and Professional Women/USA, the Interfaith Alliance, the Women in Government Relations Leader Foundation and the League of Women Voters. Naylor holds a B.A. in History from Emmanuel College and completed course work in the Master's in Public Administration at Suffolk University, both in Boston. She has two children and lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, Michael, and son.
