IPI Calls for New Congressional Budget Officer With Dynamic Scoring Background

Lawmakers should take advantage of the impending vacancy at the Congressional Budget Office to discard the dinosaur system of static scoring that misleads Americans and Washington policy leaders, and to appoint a CBO with a director who embraces the more accurate form of dynamic scoring.

According to Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) President Tom Giovanetti, "Increased economic growth through tax cuts has been held hostage to the discredited static scoring methods used by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT). It's long past time to update the methods used by these agencies and begin to take into account real-world outcomes from changes in tax policy."
