
Smithsonian Institution Announces Press Preview for 'GENOME: The Secret of How Life Works' 6/4/2003

Corr, Senior Vice President, Science and Technology, Pfizer Inc -- Peter Radetsky, Content Developer for "GENOME," Clear Channel Exhibitions -- Stacy F. King, CEO, Clear Channel Exhibitions "GENOME: The Secret of How Life Works," a 5,000-square-foot interactive exhibition, uses artifacts, engrossing environments and family-friendly activities to explore the mysteries of human genes, the last two centuries of discovery, and the implications of gene therapy for the future of medical science. "GENOME" begins its five-year, 15-city tour at the Smithsonian's Arts and Industries Building in Washington on June 7 and continues through Jan. 4, 2004. Photo opportunities include the spectacular "Giant Double Helix," a 25-foot-long model offering a quick study in the basics of DNA with the aid of flashing lights synchronized to music and video; "Cell Explorer," a moveable flat video screen that lets visitors navigate a large map of a cell and discover the workings of its parts and processes; and "Cookie Factory," where an animated cookie machine cranking out cookies is compared to a cell making proteins.
