Surgeon General of the Navy and Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to Address Battlefield HealthCare Conference in D.C.

WASHINGTON, May 21 -- The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) announced today that Vice Admiral Michael L. Cowan, (MC, USN) Surgeon General of the Navy, will speak at this year's Battlefield Healthcare conference held Sept. 16-17 in Washington, D.C.

VADM Cowan will present his session on day one, Force Health Protection: The Foundation of Deployment Medicine. During the session he will discuss current trends and future plans and requirements guiding the Navy's vision of medicine on the battlefield.

The two-day conference will gather leaders from such areas as blood control, trauma treatment, anesthesia, aero-medical evacuation and medical information systems to hear strategies and tactics driving U.S. military medical technology. Additionally, three pre-conference workshops on September 15th offer participants the opportunity to learn in a more intimate setting everything from the history of battlefield healthcare to critical care air transport.

Sponsors and exhibitors at this year's Battlefield Healthcare event will display the latest technologies and innovations in battlefield medicine.
