News Advisory:

The osteopathic medical profession will convene October 7-11 in Las Vegas for the American Osteopathic Association's (AOA) 107th Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar. The sessions focus on topics -- including aging, environmental factors in chronic diseases, nutrition, and exercise -- that will help osteopathic physicians (D.O.s) lead the way in comprehensive care. The meeting will be held in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

With 14 osteopathic specialty colleges offering seminars and a research conference highlighting studies and presentations, the convention is the premier educational and networking event for the profession. James Carney, an award-winning political journalist, will kick off the meeting on Tuesday, October 8. Carney has covered politics and the U.S. Congress for Time magazine since 1988. He has covered the collapse of the Soviet Union and the emergence of Russian and other former republics as independent states.

The AOA represents approximately 47,000 D.O.s, promotes public health, encourages scientific research, serves as the primary certifying body for D.O.s, and is the accrediting agency for all osteopathic medical schools and health care facilities.

NOTE: There is no registration fee for reporters attending the convention and advance registration is not required, but it is highly recommended. Reporters with editorial credentials may check in at the press room, which will be operational throughout the meeting.
