AIA Applauds Administration's Initiative To Develop Plan For Air Transportation 1/23/2002
From: Janet Neale of the Aerospace Industries Association, 202-371-8548 WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 -- The Aerospace Industries Association applauds the administration's establishment of an Inter-agency Working Group under the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) to develop a comprehensive vision for air transportation. A Presidential Review Directive/NSTC-1 establishing the working group was signed January 9 by John H. Marburger III, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology, and Lawrence B. Lindsey, assistant to the president for economic affairs. "This action will foster better cooperation for research and development between the military and civil sectors of aerospace, as well as other transportation sectors," said AIA President and CEO John W. Douglass. "A significant amount of research has multiple applications in areas such as satellite-based communications and navigation. This working group will foster an environment that will encourage cross cutting research and development to foster our national goal of a safe and secure air transportation system. He added, "We look forward to working with Dr. Marburger and others as this program develops." --- Visit AIA's homepage at www.aia-aerospace.org |
