News Advisory:

Next week, Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham will visit San Jose, Calif., to speak at two events. On Monday, March 31, he will be a keynote speaker at the Annual Information Technology Conference, sponsored by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. The following day, Abraham will deliver an address to the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB) meeting. Both speeches are open to the media.

Keeping in step with the President's Management Agenda, the Information Technology Conference will highlight the role of the latest technologies that help make the federal government more efficient, more effective, and better able to meet the needs of the taxpaying public.

Addressing the annual SEAB meeting, Secretary Abraham will talk about the department's diverse programs that are critical to DOE's national security mission. SEAB is the highest ranking external advisory board chartered in the Department of Energy and reports directly to the Secretary of Energy. The board provides the secretary with timely, balanced, authoritative advice on the department's management reforms, research, development and technology activities, energy and national security responsibilities, environmental cleanup activities, and economic issues relating to energy.
