California Business Exec Chosen for China Trade Mission; BioGenex Laboratories, Inc. Part of U.S. Chamber of Commerce Delegation 9/16/2002
From: Linda Rozett or Eric Wohlschlegel, 202-463-5682, both of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 -- The United States Chamber of Commerce has selected Satya Kalra, Co-Founder and Board Member of BioGenex Laboratories, Inc., as one of 12 business delegates for a trade and investment trip to China, September 20-30. The business delegates will meet with Chinese political leaders and business executives during the 10-day trip, which is designed to facilitate business links between U.S. companies and representatives from China's burgeoning private sector. "The face of trade in the United States is the face of a small business owner," said Leslie Schweitzer, Chamber senior trade advisor. "Over the past five years, the number of small businesses involved in exporting has doubled -- and small businesses now account for 30 percent of all U.S. exports by dollar value." BioGenex Laboratories, Inc., and its subsidiary InnoGenex, is at the vanguard of medical discovery and state-of-the-art medical treatments. The company provides complete systems for genome profiling and cellular and molecular analysis of cancer, infectious diseases, and genetic disorders. The company develops technologies that perform analyses useful in drug discovery and development, life science research, and cellular and molecular diagnostics. "The world is our market, because people in all countries -- regardless of race, income, or geography -- are fighting cancer, infectious diseases, and genetic disorders," said Kalra. The United States, China and the world economy stand to benefit tremendously from China's accession to the World Trade Organization, according to the Chamber. Increasing the business contacts between the two countries through trade missions will help U.S. firms to get better market information, increased access to potential Chinese partners, and the technical help to close profitable business deals. ------ The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region. | |
