ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 29 -- Krista Lee Kosbab, 17, of Waite Park, Minnesota, is one of thirteen young artists whose work was chosen for the American Kidney Fund's (AKF) 2004 "Kid"ney Calendar. AKF's art contest is open to children who are on dialysis or those who are kidney transplant recipients.

Kosbab and the other winners (as well as their family members or guardians) will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., from October 10 to 13. AKF's young artists will receive a special tour of the White House, visit the Smithsonian Museums, and see the many sights of the Nation's Capital. The "Kid"ney Kids will be honored at AKF's Recognition Dinner on Friday evening, October 10, at the Crystal City Marriott Hotel.

Nearly 100,000 AKF contributors nationwide will receive the "Kid"ney Kids Calendar in appreciation of their support for AKF's programs and services benefiting kidney patients. There are nearly 400,000 Americans who have End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or kidney failure, many of them children. Last year, AKF issued more than $40 million in grants to patients.
