From: Matt Godson of the International Institute of Research, 212-661-3500, ext. 3225, mlenner@iirusa.com NEW YORK, Aug. 20 -- The organizers of the Pharmaceutical Marketing Congress taking place September 30 to October 2, 2002 at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel in Philadelphia today announced partnerships with two leading Philadelphia based academic institutions. The event scholarship program enables select students from The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Saint Joseph's University to attend the event free of charge and take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn from and network with top executives in the pharmaceutical industry. "The students will have access to all the plenary sessions, workshops and networking receptions. These young people are the pharmaceutical thought leaders of tomorrow so it's fitting that they should be able to learn from the thought leaders of today." said Yvonne Honigsberg, event director. Glenn Rosenthal, assistant professor and program director with the faculty of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, added, "As anyone who has been through the college experience knows, the knowledge and skill obtained in classroom activities can only go so far. These experiences need to be balanced by real world contact with industry leaders in order to see that classroom theory has real world application. To have the students see that pharmaceutical executives are struggling with the same issues they are discussing in class will be of great benefit to them as they continue their studies and then move out into the workforce" The students will learn the latest pharmaceutical marketing strategies, trends and technologies for marketing effectively and responsibly to consumers, professionals and managed markets. More than 350 individuals from over 100 companies are already registered to attend the Pharmaceutical Marketing Congress. The Pharmaceutical Marketing Congress features keynote addresses by top industry leaders, plenary sessions, interactive workshops, panel discussions and case-based presentations, as well as exhibits and receptions. The distinguished keynote speakers include: -- J. Patrick Kelly, president, US Pharmaceuticals Pfizer -- Nancy Lurker, senior vice president, marketing, Pharmacia -- Dr. Francois Nader, senior vice president, medical affairs, Aventis -- Derek Williams, senior vice president, global strategic marketing, Bayer Pharmaceuticals. --- Complementary Passes A limited number of complementary "all event" passes are available to accredited members of the press.
