SEE SATELLITE IMAGERY OF TURKEY OIL REFINERY FIRE

August 19, 1999 — NOAA has placed satellite imagery of the smoke plume from an oil refinery burning in Izmet, Turkey, online.

The image is from NOAA-14, one of NOAA's polar-orbiting operational environmental satellites.

Heat signature and smoke plume from an oil refinery burning in Izmet, Turkey, is the result of the August 17 earthquake.
