CLAUDETTE MAINTAINING COURSE AND STRENGTH IN THE CENTRAL GULF (See the NOAA National Hurricane Center for the latest information on this storm. July 12, 2003 � The NOAA National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla., reports that at 11 a.m. EDT the center of Tropical Storm Claudette was located near latitude 24.1 north, longitude 91.2 west or about 410 miles east-southeast of Brownsville, Texas. Claudette is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph. This general track is expected to continue with a gradual reduction in forward speed over the next 24 hours. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 24 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles mainly to the east and northeast of the center. The most recent central pressure measured by an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft was 1006 mb, 29.71 inches.
