Media Advisory: Homecoming, Reunion & Parents Weekend

BERKELEY:
WHAT: Homecoming, Reunion & Parents Weekend, a weekend of fun, intellectual stimulation, new and old friendships, food and drink, and school spirit for University of California, Berkeley, alumni and parents.
WHEN: Friday through Sunday, Sept. 25-27, 1998.
WHERE: The UC Berkeley campus.
WHO:About 3,000 people are expected to attend, with alumni celebrating reunions of the classes of 1948, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988 and 1993.
HIGHLIGHTS: The three days of reunions, celebrations, open houses, faculty seminars and picnics will include:
· A special panel, "Student Activism in the '60s: Recycling our Past, Creating our Future," hosted by the Class of 1968 on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Lipman Room, Barrows Hall. The panel will include figures from academia, industry, government and the media who participated in or had close encounters with the Free Speech Movement and/or student activism of the 1960s.
· Events including the "All Bear Bash and Rally" on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Greek Theater; the homecoming game on Saturday against the Washington State Cougars; and a 5K Fun Run/Walk on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
· Faculty seminars on Friday and Saturday that will address such diverse topics as the "Sociology of Sport," "The Real Jurassic Park: Current Dinosaur Research in the Museum of Paleontology" and "'The Poodle in the Microwave' and Other Contemporary Legends."
