MADISON, WI, OCTOBER 21, 2005 -- The United States has never experienced the devastating effects of a natural disaster like we have seen with Hurricane Katrina followed by Rita. A special session will explore the Impact and Aftermath - Hurricanes Katrina and Rita on Monday Nov. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Ballroom BDF of the Salt Palace Convention Center, Salt Lake City, UT. Experts in agronomy, wetlands, engineering, and economics will be our featured guest speakers.

7:45 - 8:05 Dr. Roy Dokka, Fruehan Endowed Professor of Engineering, Louisiana State University, will discuss the underlying geological story and changing coastal landscape, including the dramatic changes we will likely see in the future of the Mississippi River and the entire Gulf Coast. With dramatic changes in the delta landscape and land mass (due to engineering and environmental factors), and the impact of future hurricanes will be considered.

The event will be held as part of the International Annual Meetings of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), Nov. 6-10, 2005 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Over 2,500 research papers will be presented by the more than 3,000 delegates in attendance.
