The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) cordially invite you to attend a symposium on the current state of research, development of prophylactic and therapeutic treatments, and U.S. and global strategies aiming to manage both annual and possible global pandemic influenza outbreaks.

Discussion topics will include the structure of the influenza viral proteins and the relevance of that structure for drug development, lessons learned from the 1918 pandemic, current H5N1 (Avian influenza) developments in Asia, the state of U.S. preparedness and influenza surveillance, and the private sector's views on drug development.
