Institute for OneWorld Health CEO speaks at 2005 World Life Sciences Forum, BioVision
WHAT Victoria Hale, Ph.D., CEO and Founder of the Institute for OneWorld Health will provide perspectives on drug and vaccine development from a nonprofit pharmaceutical company's viewpoint at two events at BioVision. The biannual event of the World Life Sciences Forum fosters debate and exchange among representatives from science, society, and industry. OneWorld Health will also exhibit at BioVision.
Dr. Hale will participate in the following events at the international meeting: - A roundtable discussion on Nobel Laureates' Day, marking the 50th anniversary of the Salk polio vaccine, including a dozen Nobel Laureates, and representatives from leading global health, research and pharmaceutical companies involved in vaccines.
- Addressing 100 of tomorrow's "bioleaders" from leading universities worldwide at a workshop, "Commercializing Science: Can it be Both Altruistic and Profitable?" at BioVision.Nxt.
WHO Dr. Hale is an expert on developing new treatments for tropical infectious diseases and brings extensive pharmaceutical experience from public and private sectors, including the U.S. FDA and Genentech. OneWorld Health, the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company in the U.S., develops new, affordable medicines for infectious diseases that disproportionately affect people in the developing world, including visceral leishmaniasis, malaria, diarrhea, and Chagas disease.
