Agronomy, crop, and soil science societies to meet Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 in SeattleHundreds of sessions involving Biosecurity, GMO Crops, Conservation, and Science Education highlight the eventMADISON, WI -- The American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) will hold their Annual Meetings, Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center, Seattle, WA, under the theme, "Science to Secure Food and the Environment."
Over 300 scientific sessions, 75 symposia, and 2,800+ research papers/posters will be presented. More than 4,000 delegates from 100 countries are expected to be in attendance. The Annual Meetings activities begin Sunday, Oct. 31 with the popular Plenary Session at 7pm featuring Mark Drabenstott, Center for the Study of Rural America, Federal Reserve Bank, who will present, "Trends for Agriculture and Rural America." On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Wendell Berry, farmer, writer, and conservationist, will present a lecture on "Renewing Husbandry" at 3:30pm.
A full slate of technical sessions during the week that cover such topics as plant genomics, turfgrass science, international agriculture development, soil nutrient management, and sustainable agriculture are scheduled through noon on Thursday, Nov. 4. The event also features exhibits, guided tours, and the ability to earn Continuing Education Units for Certified Crop Adviser and other ARCPACS certification programs.
