
January 2003 From Stanford University Media Advisory A new report calling for the immediate establishment of marine reserves throughout the coastal United States will be made public at a news conference at Stanford University on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place in Room 290 of the Law School. A reception will follow.The report was written by Stanford Biological Sciences Professor Stephen R. Palumbi for the Virginia-based Pew Oceans Commission. In addition to Palumbi, the press conference will include Pew Oceans Commissioners Leon A. Panetta, former White House Chief of Staff; Julie Packard, executive director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium; and Pietro Parravano, president of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen's Associations.
