It is the chief risk factor for stroke and heart failure and a major risk factor for heart disease and kidney disease. | | The guidelines, which will be published in a major scientific journal, represent the first significant update from the NHLBI's National High Blood Pressure Education Program (NHBPEP) since 1997. JNC 7 will present redefined and streamlined blood pressure categories as well as recommendations on prevention, diagnosis, and drug and lifestyle treatment approaches.
