Energy Secretary to make major science announcement and tour fusion laboratory

Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham will visit the U.S. Department of Energy's Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) on Thursday, January 30, where he will announce a major science initiative of the Bush administration.

Secretary Abraham will tour the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX), a magnetic fusion energy research facility, and visit the former site of the record-breaking Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor.

Following his tour, Secretary Abraham will address the laboratory staff.

Representatives of the news media are invited to attend the tour and address. Following his remarks, the Secretary will be available to take questions from reporters.

Reporters should arrive at the lobby of PPPL's Lyman Spitzer Building no later than 11:45 am. PPPL is located on the James Forrestal Campus of Princeton University. Upon arrival at the laboratory, visitors must show a government-issued photo I.D., for example, a passport or a driver's license. Non-U.S. citizens must show a government-issued photo I.D. and provide the following information: citizenship, date of birth and place of birth.
