
February 2003 From Binghamton University Destination discovery: Unleashing your research potential Beating the odds in an increasingly competitive world of sponsored projects, crafting successful strategies for the advancement of research and scholarly projects, cashing in on cross-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration, and incubating imagination through to industry--these are the critical foci of this major statewide research symposium, which will feature keynote speaker State University of New York Chancellor Robert L. King."Destination Discovery: Unleashing Your Research Potential" will bring representatives from many federal sponsoring agencies- including the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health to upstate New York to discuss trends in funding. The Department of Defense, the Department of Education, and the Department of Commerce have also been invited along with representatives from the World Bank and the National Endowment for the Humanities. By means of a collaborations-focused poster session and topic-specific breakout workshops, this symposium will promote opportunities for cross-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations as well as university-industry-community partnerships that can ignite the process of discovery in New York.
