Georgetown to host bioterrorism workshop

What: Georgetown University Medical Center and MedStar Health will sponsor a Bioterrorism Workshop to present and discuss the latest developments in our country's effort to combat the threat of bioterrorism, and to develop safe, effective vaccinations.

When: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17

Where: Georgetown University School of Medicine. Please call for directions and parking instructions

William Daddio, PhD, adjunct professor of sociology and anthropology, Georgetown University: "History of Bioterrorism"

Keynote lecture: Joel G. Breman, MD, DTPH, senior scientific advisor, Division of International Epidemiology & Populations Studies: "Smallpox 2002: Global Eradication to Bioterrorism Threat"

Daniel R. Lucey, MD, MPH, professor of medicine, Washington Hospital Center: "Smallpox Vaccination in DC and the USA"

Irene B. Glowinski, PhD, chief, Office of Scientific Coordination and Program Operations, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID)/NIH: "The NIH Response to the Threat of Bioterrorism."
