
August 2002 From European Society for Medical Oncology 27th ESMO Congress 18-22 October 2002, Nice, France YOU ARE INVITED… to report on Europe's most important cancer conferenceThe 27th ESMO Congress the biennial conference of the European Society for Medical Oncology (Congress Centre, Nice Acropolis) More than 6,000 physicians and scientists will attend over 500 presentations on the latest developments concerning the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, progress in research, and promising new technologies. International cancer specialists will review progress on important topics such as advances in breast cancer, colorectal cancer, leukaemia, lung cancer, lymphoma, prostate cancer, new therapies, pharmacology, and palliative and supportive care, just to name a few. New treatments involving molecular targets, and combined treatments requiring multidisciplinary approaches will be presented, along with state-of-the-art oncology at its finest. Some other special features of the Congress: - For the first time ever, an exciting new European Patient Seminar has been organised to enable patients to meet qualified medical oncologists on an international scale.
- A special Patient Advocacy Session intends to encourage patient groups to unite efforts with medical oncologists for optimal patient care.
- A Session on ESMO Minimum Clinical Recommendations will update current guidelines on clinical practice for various tumour types.
