National Lung Screening Trial NCI launches largest-ever lung cancer screening trial WHAT: Telephone press conference discussing the launch of the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), the largest-ever lung cancer screening study, which is seeking 50,000 current and former adult smokers across the United States. NLST will determine if screening people with either spiral CT or chest X-ray before they have symptoms can reduce deaths from lung cancer. Currently, there is no lung cancer screening test that has been proven to save lives.Replay of the teleconference will be available. A video news release (VNR) and B-roll are available via satellite.
