This review assesses the impact of antibacterial treatment, commenting on how clinicians may become mislead by drug treatment as otitis media often resolves naturally within a few days of infection; the growing problem of widespread antibiotic resistance is also limiting the effectiveness of many therapeutic treatments for the disorder.
