This year marks the diamond jubilee and in celebration a series of events will be held during the national meeting of the Society, April 7-11, in Orlando. The theme is "Diversity in the 21st Century -- Advancing Women in Science." Marion Thurnauer, the 2002 Garvan-Olin Medal recipient, is the speaker. She is from Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, Ill. Her topic is "My mother, Her sister, and Me: 75 years of science and social change." This luncheon is in memory of Nina M. Roscher, former chemistry department chair at American University in Washington, D.C., who was a teacher, historian, mentor, and role model to women chemists.
