
January 2002 From Smithsonian Institution The Future of the Amazon Panama City, Panama. Leading authorities on Amazonian ecology and conservation will gather at the headquarters of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) on January 29, 2002,for a half-day symposium entitled "The Future of the Amazon: Impacts of Deforestation and Climate Change".
