What | "Vision for the Future Luncheon -- Diabetes and Diabetic Retinopathy," a symposium sponsored by The Schepens Eye Research Institute, The Jewish Guild for the Blind, and The Friends of Schepens as a public service. |
Where: | The Harvard Club of New York City, 27 West 444th Street, New York, New York |
Why: | Diabetic retinopathy remains the leading cause of blindness in adults in the United States and other western countries. Studies have shown that the changes in the eyes initiated by diabetes cannot be readily arrested or reversed; therefore, prevention becomes essential. At the symposium, the audience will learn what causes diabetic retinopathy, how to prevent it, and the latest research. |
