UNC-CH, Duke AIDS experts, patients to update epidemic, describe new support

AIDS experts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University schools of medicine will provide the latest information on how the AIDS epidemic is affecting North Carolina Wednesday (Jan. 12) at a news briefing at UNC Hospitals. The briefing will begin promptly at 1:30 p.m. in the General Clinical Research Center located on the third floor above the main hospital lobby.

The physicians, including Drs. John A. Bartlett of Duke and Charles M. van der Horst of UNC-CH, also will describe major new federal funding for AIDS treatment and research efforts in North Carolina. Patients will describe their experiences with the illness and with treatment.

Reporters can park in the Health Affairs Parking Deck on Manning Drive across from UNC Hospitals. Escorts will be provided for television news crews in the main hospital lobby in keeping with hospital policy.
