Media Briefing: Richard Glogau, MD, UCSF clinical professor of dermatology Friday, March 10, 12 noon Moscone Center, press briefing room, Room 234 Soft Tissue Augmentation: The Forever Young Formula Glogau will discuss the latest cosmetic procedures that help patients conserve a youthful appearance. Topics will include: injections of botulinum toxin to remove eyebrow lines, crow's feet, and other wrinkle patterns, and bovine collagen injections for softening lines around the mouth. He will also discuss alternatives for the future, such as recombinant human collagen. Award presentation: Vera Price, MD, UCSF professor of clinical dermatology Monday, March 13, 9 am Moscone Center, Room 134 Presidential Citation Price will be awarded a presidential citation by Darrell Rigel, MD, the president of the American Academy of Dermatology, to recognize her provision of the highest quality of compassion and care to patients with dermatologic disease. Price treats clinical hair loss and studies normal and abnormal hair growth. Plenary Lecture: Ilona Frieden, MD, UCSF clinical professor of dermatology and pediatrics Monday, March 13, 3:40 pm Moscone Center, Room 134 Hemangiomas and Cutaneous Mosaicism Frieden will discuss the most common tumor of infancy -- hemangioma -- and how history has affected dermatologists' current treatment of them. Research Talk: Herschel Zackheim, MD, UCSF clinical professor of dermatology Saturday, March 11, 11 am Moscone Center, Room 133 New data on survival of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma patients Contrary to what most dermatology textbooks say, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma patients have reasonably good survival rates -- roughly 80 percent, according to Zackheim's research. Research Talk: Christopher Zachary, MD, UCSF clinical professor of dermatology Saturday, March 11, 9 am Moscone Center, Room Facial Reconstruction in Motion Zachary will discuss facial reconstruction for patients who have had cancer surgery, and discuss how this procedure can be performed at lower cost in an ambulatory surgery center instead of an operating room. Research Talk: Christropher Zachary, MD, UCSF clinical professor of dermatology and Roy Grekin, MD, UCSF associate clinical professor of dermatology Friday, March 10, 11:00 am Moscone Center, Room 122 Erbium: YAG Laser Skin Resurfacing The new Erbium: YAG laser allows dermatologists to do "laser peels" of the face with faster healing times than carbon dioxide-based lasers. Zachary and Grekin will discuss how these techniques make laser skin rejuvenation safer and more refined.
