Media Advisory: Press Conference on Climate Change and Greenhouse Gases

The American Geophysical Union has adopted a position statement on climate change and greenhouse gases. Its action follows months of discussion, including the solicitation and consideration of information and opinions from members of the organization and a thorough review of the scientific literature.

The statement will be released at a press conference on Thursday, January 28, 1999, at 1:00 P.M., in the Murrow Room of the National Press Club. The NPC is located on the 13th floor of the National Press Building, 14th and F Streets, N.W., in Washington, D.C.

The statement will be posted on the AGU web site at 1:00 P.M. (EST) on January 28. It will not be available prior to that time.

Participants in the press conference will include: Tamara Ledley, Senior Scientist, TERC, 2067 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140, Eric Sundquist, Research Geologist, U. S. Geological Survey, Woods Hole, Mass. Tim Killeen, Associate Vice President, Office of the Vice President for Research, and Professor of Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Space Sciences, Space Physics Research Laboratory, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich.

The American Geophysical Union is an international organization of more than 35,000 scientists dedicated to advancing the understanding of Earth and its environment in space and making the results of their research available to the public.
