(SAN FRANCISCO) -- For the first time, the American Academy of Ophthalmology will team up with Sun Microsystems to present INFOACCESS '97, a one-day seminar covering various technologies and related issues shaping the future of health care.

INFOACCESS '97 is designed to bring together physicians, academicians, information technology specialists, scientists and researchers. Topics include the Internet, telemedicine, digital imaging, use of Internet technology in managed care and medical school settings, global standards initiatives and computer-based patient records development.

Co-sponsored by the Academy's New Education Technology Committee, INFOACCESS '97 is presented as part of the Academy's 1997 Subspecialty Day program prior to its Annual Meeting in San Francisco. Scheduled for Saturday,

October 25, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the seminar will be held at Sun's conference facilities in Menlo Park.

The seminar is open to all interested participants involved in medical or academic specialties. The cost is $400 for Academy members and $600 for nonmembers.
